IRIB, Tokyo, Jan 16 - Iran's ambassador to Tokyo Ali Majedi here Friday thanked the Japanese government and people for the aid supplies the country provided for the quake-stricken people in southeast Iran city of Bam.
Majedi who was speaking in a meeting with the deputy head of the Japanese Red Cross Organization Konoei appreciated the humanitarian institutions of Japan who moved in line with their government authorities to send relief aid to the Bam people.
He called on the Japanese Red Cross Organization to continue to send help to the Bam people as they are faced with hardships in the heart of a freezing winter.
He sympathized with Iran's nation and government over the Bam quake.
Konoei said a six-member relief team of Japan is currently in Iran and he himself plans to visit Bam within a few weeks when the reconstruction work begins.
Majedi said Japan presented aid worth dlrs 2 million in the aftermath of the quake and the Japanese government has pledged to earmark dlrs 1.4 million for the restoration of the historical citadel which has been demolished by the powerful quake.
