Tory defence spokesman and long-time friend of the Prince of Wales, Nicholas Soames, today welcomed the royal visit to Iran.
Mr Soames said there was no danger of the prince being used politically but said his trip, which included a visit to the earthquake-stricken city of Bam and a courtesy call on President Mohammad Khatami, would serve the UK’s national interest.
