The government of Iran is very interested in expanding the credit line already offered to Sri Lanka. Iran is ready to revise the terms and conditions in order that it will be favourable to Sri Lanka.
Minister Azwer recalled his visit to Iran as an emissary of then President Ranasinghe Premadasa with a letter to the President of Iran at that time calling for assistance for the extension of the railway in the Eastern Province beyond Batticaloa.
